Thoughts on the Subject of Iboney
|
Yo Pete!
Thought that I would send you a copy of
the review that Bob and I had wrote to Cyndy Burton and Jeff Elliott re:
your Iboney product. Jeff Elliott was the one who suggested that we try
"Iboney". He had a large sample but has not yet used it. He wanted us
to try it and let him know how we liked it. Here is the letter that we
wrote to Cyndy and Jeff.
Hi Cyndy,
About three months ago Jeff Elliott told
us about a new product called "Iboney" for guitar nuts and saddles.
We were often upset about the poor quality and high price of the nut
and saddle blanks furnished to us by the usual supply companies. We
thought that we would give this "Iboney" a try. After all this fellow
was offering free samples! We ordered our free sample and it arrived
just in time to string two new guitars. We found the material to be
exceptional. It works better than any material that we have ever used.
The material can be cut and filed with far less flaking and chipping
than usual bone. Gone are the pits, holes and spongy areas. We feel
that there may be an acoustical advantage here since the "Iboney" material
seems to be more homogenous. This material comes in large sizes so that
you can cut extra large nuts or saddles if needed and have enough left
over for tie block inlays. We liked the material so much that we placed
an order for more. When the order came, we were delighted by the amount
that we received for the money. We calculated that the amount that we
paid was about the price that we had been paying for the same quantity.
We feel hat the material is good enough that every luthier should be
aware of it. If interested, give Pete Van Alstyne a call at: 1-800-916-MUSIC

When Cyndy received our review she suggested
that the letter should be published in the "American Lutherie" A GAL publication.
The letter has been forwarded to the right party for publication and should
appear in the up coming issue Cyndy said that it should make this next
dead line OK.
